„All The Young Dudes“ und „Starman“
Classless Act, eine der heißesten neuen Rockbands des Jahres 2022, zollen David Bowie mit ihrer doppelseitigen Single „All The Young Dudes“ und „Starman“ Tribut. Anlass hierfür ist der David Bowie-Dokumentarfilm „Moonage Daydream“, der auf der Shortlist für den besten Dokumentarfilm bei den Academy Awards 2023 vertreten ist. Die Tracks, die über Better Noise Music veröffentlicht wurden, sind ab heute überall erhältlich.
„When we learned there was a documentary about the creative, spiritual and musical journey of the great David Bowie, we wanted to pay our tribute, acknowledge his genius, his artistry, his influence and our gratitude to him,“ kommentiert Sänger Derek Day. „We’ve always had a few cover songs in our set; in the beginning, it was out of necessity as we didn’t have enough of our own songs. Now it’s our choice. Whether it was Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, Queen, or many others, they represent a road map of our influences, our roots…and how we’ve gotten ‘here’ musically. David Bowie played a major role.“
2022 war ein echtes Durchbruchsjahr für Classless Act. Die Band, bestehend aus Sänger Derek Day, den Gitarristen Dane Pieper und Griffin Tucker, Bassist Franco Gravante und Schlagzeuger Chuck McKissock, tourte im Frühjahr mit Dorothy auf ihrer „Gifts From The Holy Ghost“-Tour durch die USA, veröffentlichte im Juni ihr hochgelobtes Debütalbum Welcome To The Show und spielte im Sommer als Support für Mötley Crüe und Def Leppard auf ihrer großen US Stadion Tour. Zudem teilten sie den Rest des Jahres zwischen dem Support für Giovannie und The Hired Guns und ihren eigenen Headline-Terminen auf und beendeten das Jahr mit der Veröffentlichung der Welcome To The Acoustic Show EP.
Jonathan Smith von BraveWords schrieb in seiner Review über die Stadiontour über Classless Act: „Led by highly charismatic and off-the-wall frontman Derek Day, who could be best described as a composite of Robert Plant’s high-end brilliance, Roger Daltry’s power, Axl Rose’s grittiness, and David Lee Roth’s stage presence, their comparatively short set, set the air ablaze.“
