Forged in the fires of Barcelona’s black metal scene, Gjallarhorn’s Wrath rises as a new force in blackened death orchestral metal, bearing the legacy of its predecessor, Oblivion.
Oblivion, an atmospheric black metal band founded in 2001, made its mark on the Spanish metal scene with their profound exploration of light versus darkness. Their lineup Lord Ashler on vocals, Arash on guitar, and Javi Iron on drums produced a demo and played shows across Spain, including a celebrated tour with the iconic Norwegian band Ancient. Yet, as the years passed, each member’s path diverged, with Javi Iron transitioning into a successful career in film and media composition. The band disbanded, leaving a void in the black metal community, but its legacy endured.
As time went on, the flame of Oblivion never fully extinguished. The core members of the band came together once again, driven by the shared desire to build something greater. Joined by Alex on vocals, the reformed band saw Lord Ashler take up the bass, while Javi Iron returned, bringing his vision to life through drums, keys, and composition. Arash remained as the band’s lead and rhythm guitarist. Together, they formed Gjallarhorn’s Wrath, a rebirth that fuses the intense brutality of extreme metal with the grandeur of symphonic elements.
With their new identity, Gjallarhorn’s Wrath embraces the powerful contrast between light and darkness, but now with an even grander, cinematic scope. The result is a unique blend of blackened death orchestral metal a dynamic fusion of raw intensity and cinematic atmospheres. While their thematic focus remains rooted in the eternal struggle of light and darkness, the band’s vision has evolved into something far more refined, bold, and captivating.
In 2025, the band signed a deal with the renowned Dutch label Non Serviam Records, setting the stage for the release of their highly anticipated debut album later this year. The album promises to be a monumental step in the band’s journey, further solidifying their place in the extreme metal world.
